9th Grade Choir

I found it! Here is the picture of Mr. Shaw's 9th grade choir. I think this was taken at Southeastern. I don't know why Randy Walsh is in the picture, maybe he was our ringer.

This one's for the girls

Do you remember these ugly ass gym suits? I hated these things. They snapped up and weren't the least bit attractive. We would wear them all week then take them home on the weekend to wash. I wouldn't think of wearing anything sweaty for 2 days now.

Dixie Days

Who remembers Dixie Days? What do you remember? I remember it was under the walkway. Also there was a pie eating contest. Billy came in second. I think the Confederettes put this on. Can someone enlighten me?

Did ya know?

Coach Bofinger is still at Lee. Still wrestling coach. Films football, but doesn't actively coach.

Did ja know?

Randy Jackson (who was one year younger than us) is the same Randy Jackson that is the judge on American Idol? He played in the band with Mr. Gerbrecht. And Coach Keaton told him, "you're never going to make any money with that guitar". hahahaha

My Memories of teachers

ok, i didn't get any response on the last blog so i thought i would write a few of my memories of teachers. Mrs. Church in the auditorium classroom always got me and Janice Simmons mixed up, as well as Billy and Johnny Parker. Mr. Deladorie with his "high tech" over head projector ( now that i think back it was probably laziness cause all he had to do was work the math problems one time). Mrs. Loupe one of the toughest teachers I had, gave me a B+ on a paper instead of an A- because she was tired of the subject (it was new to me). Mr. Powers with his white hair putting the chairs in a circle so we could "discuss" literature. Coach Keaton whistling all through our final exam in civics (I was ready to show him a real tackle). Mrs. Jenkins having us do a new dance step exercise thing in PE that we now call aerobics (but back then it wasn't really heart pumping like today).

Anyone else have any memories?

Teacher updates

I thought as a way of generating some interest in the reunion I would start posting some updates, questions, memories, etc. that will hopefully get our class to participate. The first one I thought of was teachers. Where are they? I compiled a list of those that I know have passed away (it has been 35 years since we graduated). Mr. McCoin-admin, Coach Wicker, Mr. Delaroderie-math, Mr. Powers-Eng, Colonel Boswell-Social Studies, Coach Lundy, Mr. Albert-Science, Ms. McGhee-Typing,Shorthand, Mr. Shaw-choir, Mrs. Wallace-Eng.

But also many are still alive and kicking because I have run into them. That list is Mrs. Smith-Social Studies ran into her at Zeeland Gardens, Mrs. Norwood-math at a nursing home, Mrs. Fort she seems to remember everyone's name (I don't think she ages), Mrs. Greer-science ran into her at Oschner (she's having some health problems but still gets about), Mrs, Meriwether-English, Mrs. Loupe-Social Studies, Mr. Gerbrecht-band (still volunteers his time and plays for his grandchildrens school at St. George, Coach Bofinger-still wrestling coach at Lee and party animal, Mrs. Wicker/Jenkins-P.E. used to see her all the time walking her dog at Lee, Mrs. Paine-P.E. used to keep up with her through her grandkids, Coach Keaton-ran into him at gas station still remembers that 1973 football team, Mr. Hanley-science now principal at McKinley High, Coach Wilkinson-still partying with Bofinger, Mrs. Pourciau-speech, Mr. LeBlanc-industrial arts, Mr. Gremillion-industrial arts, Coach Major Harris, Coach Ruiz,

Maybe you've run into some of the old (or maybe I should say "former") teachers, send us an update.

I'm going to try to post every few days something that I hope will stimulate you to post your memories, I've found that one memory triggers another. I'm going to post on this site as opposed to email because I don't want my email flooded with responses. Please post to this site.

Reunion Promotion

We really need everyone to promote this reunion in a big way! Call and e-mail everyone you know!

I have talked to a few classmates who have never attended any of our reunions in the past, that say they are coming to this one. There are approximately 40 classmates in Baton Rouge who have never attended a reunion. What can we do to get them out?

Be sure to promote the band, The Tyrone Gringos. Craig and Kerry are LHS class of '72. They are very exited about playing at our reunion! They will play for a full three hours!
Let me hear from ya'll,

Gib
